From the airport, we head directly to Cubao where a friend stays and left our things for a while to munch for dinner and bought some snacks before heading to Coda Bus Line in Cubao. The bus will leave at 9pm and the fare was Php685.00.

We reached Bontoc before 7am and we were so amaze by the place. We looked for a place to eat for breakfast and we can’t wait to sip a cup of coffee.

We settled a mini eatery to have our breakfast. We then went out to take a walk and explore a little while in Bontoc market.

After our breakfast, we walked around until we saw The Bontoc Museum and we did not hesitate to go in and check what’s inside.

You are not allowed to take a photos inside the museum and we respect that. The lady explained about the history and their culture. There are photos where warriors brought a head (literal head) from their enemy to their territory. It was an interesting story about the warriors and the huntsmen. So if you happen to be in Bontoc, stop by at The Bontoc Museum and listen to the history of the locals.

In the museum vicinity.

Andreea was explaining something from their country with a similarity from our country and these two are an avid listener.

Interestingly, the tongue of the dead comes out during the ritual and I don’t understand why. We don’t have a guide from here and nobody can explain it to us.

ATO

To read it clearly, “The Ato is the religious & political center of the Bontoc. It is where the council of elders meet and all decisions for the village are made. Young boys when they reach puberty here and receive their education from the elders. It is this Ato system which still gives the Bontocs so much unity today.”

We went inside the market and I saw these:

After walking around, we took a jeepney going to Maligcong for a 12noon trip for a fare of only Php20.00. Travel time is only 30 minutes.
