Hinagdanan Cave

Notes by yeyette on Monday, May 11th, 2015 under Visayas

Standard Post with ImageA night before, I told Ruben that I will cancel my island hopping. I need to get back to my hotel before 9am. I was able to make a friend named Loloy who is kind enough to volunteer to let me see Hinagdanan cave. He was also from Mindanao and he knows our city. There is no direct van or jeepney to Hinagdanan. You have to either hire a van from the hotel or negotiate someone outside the hotel. Try to befriend some locals and they are much willing to help. If you are going to cancel your reservation for…more

Cloudy and Windy Saturday

Notes by yeyette on Friday, May 1st, 2015 under Visayas

Standard Post with ImageI woke up at 7AM and walked to the beach. You have to walk around 5-7 minutes from the hotel. I was disappointed with what I saw. The beach was not good due to typhoon. Nobody swim. It was windy and cloudy. The waves are not that big but the water was in constant movement. One guy approached me if I would like to do island hopping. I asked him if it is possible to do it with this kind of weather. He said yes since they haven't received a warning from the coastguard that it's not safe to go.…more

Chocolate Hills Complex to Panglao

Notes by yeyette on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 under Visayas

Standard Post with ImageAfter at CHAPS, we went to Carmen Chocolate Hills Complex and it was already very windy. There was an entrance fee of Php50 (USD1.15). There are 214 steps before you can go to the peak and the roof are already swaying. I just stayed for around 5 minutes on top. The wind was getting stronger. As I went down, the roof was almost already taken out by the wind. The peak was badly hit by an earthquake happened way back 2013 at magnitude 7.2 but it was still haven't fix until today (October 2014). But still, the surrounding is perfect! [caption…more

Standard Post with ImageWhen we arrived at the port, I asked a guy how to go to Carmen to see the Chocolate Hills. (The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in Bohol Province, Philippines.  There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown (like chocolate) during the dry season, hence the name). Courtesy from Wikipedia. He told me to just take a motorcycle going to the terminal. The fare from the port to the terminal is only Php7 (USD0.16). There…more

Storm Won’t Stop Me from going to Bohol

Notes by yeyette on Sunday, March 15th, 2015 under Visayas

Standard Post with ImageI arrived at Mactan International Airport from Laguindingan Airport at 9:50AM (I didn't booked from Cagayan de Oro to Tagbilaran Airport directly), 20 minutes earlier than expected. I took a yellow cab going to the port. The taxi fare from MCIA (Mactan Cebu International Airport) was Php286 (USD6.45). When we arrived at Terminal 1, somebody approached me and guide me to a store to buy a ticket. I gave the guy who sent me to the store where I can buy a ferry ticket a Php12 (USD0.30). He don't want to accept it, he wants me to buy a stuff…more
